I hate when people on sites say "Well we as transmen" or "you as a transman..." I hate that crap.
I AM NOT A TRANSMAN.
I am not a "changing man". I am a Man who just happened to transition. Get it, got it, good.
Now I prefer to use the term man of Transexperience FOR ME! You can call yourself a pink elephant for all you want. I DON'T CARE just don't label me.
I am an individual. I don't know why people feel the need to feel so "Kumbaya We are one". WE ARE NOT ONE. We are individuals! We have our own lives, own thoughts. Own likes and dislikes. We don't all have to look the same, be the same, think the same, act the same because WE ARE NOT THE SAME.
I'm just trying to be me and I AM NOT A TRANSMAN.
That is all for now.

I agree with you on the 'trans' moniker. Trans by definition means ongoing change. If we all agree that everything changes even as some thing on the whole remain the same, then everyone man woman and child is technically 'trans'. However, since this term is applicable on such a general scale, then it only makes sense to forgo it altogether. I prefer man, male, dude, guy or masculine being, or masculine entity. Or simply the individual named Mavin. All other definitions are labels and tags that source from external concepts. My individuality aims to stem from internal concepts while also keeping in mind the effect of external concepts. Being able to see between both, only affirm my dislike of the term 'trans' as a label. I imagine after a phase of 'active transition', one settles into their personality and has less use for labels because one just is.
ReplyDeleteYou said it man! That is exactly what was going through my head when I wrote it!
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree with the fact that no one should be labeled and we should all be allowed to just be. I feel that I am in a transitional period in my life right now. But it's not just about gender. I feel that I am transitioning into the individual I was meant to be without the molding of others around me.
